Apple Reportedly Planning Significant Overhauls for Retail Stores, Including Return of Genius Bars

Apple is reportedly gearing up for a series of significant transformations within its retail store network, according to a new report from Bloomberg. These planned changes are expected to bring back some of the brand’s most recognizable in-store experiences.
Revamping In-Store Experiences
A key highlight of the anticipated updates is the potential return of dedicated Genius Bars. These specialized service areas were a cornerstone of the Apple Store experience, offering personalized technical support and expert advice to customers. While the exact scope and format of the revived Genius Bars are not detailed, their reintroduction signals a renewed focus on customer service and technical assistance.
In addition to the Genius Bars, Apple is also set to revamp the “Avenue” sections within its retail locations. These areas, typically positioned along the perimeter of the stores, currently serve as promotional spaces for accessories and Apple services. The planned redesign aims to create more focused and functional zones.
New Dedicated Zones for Pickups and Sessions
The report outlines that Apple intends to introduce two new distinct Avenue sections. One will be dedicated to facilitating online order pickups, streamlining the process for customers collecting purchases made through Apple’s e-commerce platform. The second new zone will be designated for “Today at Apple” sessions. These popular in-store workshops and educational programs provide hands-on learning opportunities covering a wide range of Apple products and creative applications.
These strategic changes suggest Apple is looking to enhance both the service and engagement aspects of its physical retail presence. The anticipated return of Genius Bars, coupled with the optimized Avenue sections, points towards an effort to refine the customer journey and reinforce the Apple Store as a hub for support, learning, and product interaction.
